Overview
Greenview delivered building services and civil engineering for a social and affordable housing development at 65–75 Waratah Road, Katoomba, commissioned by St Vincent de Paul. The project involved a multi-storey residential development in the Blue Mountains, approximately 100 kilometres west of Sydney, and was delivered in partnership with Mars Building and AHS Solutions.
As an affordable housing engineer with a track record across the Sydney metropolitan area and regional NSW, Greenview brought the same standard of coordinated engineering to this Blue Mountains project as it delivers on inner-city developments.
The challenge
Residential development in the Blue Mountains involves climate and site conditions distinct from those of metropolitan Sydney. Mechanical HVAC systems need to account for colder winters, and civil and stormwater design must address the specific drainage and site conditions of the locality. The project also needed to meet the building services requirements of a multi-storey residential development for a social housing provider operating within defined capital cost parameters.
Greenview's approach
Greenview's building services scope was developed through the team's coordinated REVIT model, ensuring the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems were documented in a single, resolved package for Mars Building and the project's approval authorities. The civil scope addressed stormwater and drainage requirements for the site. Close coordination with AHS Solutions ensured Greenview's engineering aligned with the project's overall design and delivery approach.
